The Communications Regulatory Commission (“CRC”) issued Resolution 8255 of 2026, amending the user protection regime and setting maximum charges for reconnecting mobile and fixed telecom services suspended for non-payment. The new caps will apply from July 17, 2026.
The CRC issued Resolution No. 8255 of 2026, establishing regulatory conditions for the reconnection of telecommunications services suspended for non-payment.
The resolution amends Article 2.1.12.1 of CRC Resolution 5050 of 2016, establishing new tariff caps. For mobile services, the cap is set at $285; for fixed services provided by operators with 30,000 or more access lines, at $1,232; and for fixed services provided by operators with fewer than 30,000 access lines, at $10,269. All figures are expressed in Colombian pesos and exclude VAT and any other applicable taxes.
The measure will apply from July 17, 2026. From that date, if an operator chooses to charge for reconnection, the amount may not exceed the caps defined by the CRC. The regulation does not prevent operators from offering reconnection free of charge, nor does it change users’ payment obligations or the possibility of service suspension for non-payment.
