On March 16, the second term of the 2020-2021 legislature began, which will end on June 20. Congress has the task of processing hundreds of legislative initiatives that are in progress presented in the past and current legislature, among which the following stand out:
- The tax reform whose project is expected to be presented this week, after the report of the commission of experts in tax benefits.
- Solidarity Income as a permanent measure.
- The reform of the payment system, the capital market and the modernization of the financial sector.
- Regulations on the modalities of work at home, teleworking and services provided through technological platforms.
- A large number of environmental initiatives are underway, including those related to the use of plastic, the protection of páramos and other ecosystems.
- The regulation of transportation services mediated through technological platforms and the reform of the sector's sanctioning regime.
It is important to highlight that, at the end of the current legislature, the bills that were presented in the last legislature and have not been approved in the fourth debate, as well as those that were presented in the current legislature and have not been approved at least in the first debate, will be file away.
Consequently, the timer is set for Congress to determine key issues that could have enormous impact in Colombia’s economy and livelihood.
