The National Mining Agency, in compliance with article 20 of Law 1753 of 2015, issued Resolution 02 of 2020 by means of which it defines and reserves two areas with strategic minerals potential in the department of César.
ANM reserves two areas with strategic minerals potential.

Article 20 of Law 1753 of 2015 established that the National Mining Authority, meaning the National Mining Agency (“ANM”), must determine the minerals of strategic interest in the country. For such purpose, the ANM must establish special areas that will be subject to a technical evaluation, and based on said evaluation, select the areas that have a high mining potential in the production of strategic minerals, in order to allocate them through a competitive bidding procedure.

Therefore, in compliance with the above, the ANM issued Resolution 002 of 2020 (the “Resolution”) by means of which areas with strategic minerals potential in the national territory are established and reserved.

The Resolution reserves two areas in which it was established the existence of strategic minerals such as copper and other metals. The areas are located in the department of César and cover a zone of 5,092,6858 hectares. The alignment of the areas is contained in Annex 1, of the Resolution available at the following link:

As mentioned above, these delimited and reserved areas, according to article 20 of Law 1753 of 2015, will be part of a technical evaluation process and, if possible, will be delimited and declared as Mining Strategic Reserve Areas, and after carrying out the coordination and concurrence processes with the local authorities and the prior consultation with the applicable ethnic communities, will therefore be included in the competitive bidding procedures.
