Government measures to reactivate the Seaport of Buenaventura.

The national strike is approaching its first month, and although protests have continued throughout the country, the southwest of Colombia has been the most affected region. Therefore, the National Government has initiated a plan for the economic and social reactivation of Buenaventura and its port.

Among the immediate actions decreed by the president, Iván Duque, is the strengthening of a logistics corridor from Buenaventura to the center and southwest of the country, for the transportation of goods from the port.

The Police also reported yesterday that the road that connects Jamundí with Cali was cleared, and that they accompanied the transporters in some of the main corridors of departments such as Huila, Boyacá, Santander, La Guajira and the Villavicencio-Bogotá road.

The plan also included the implementation of an urban scheme to move cargo to shipment points or free economic zones, in view of the situation of excess cargo in the port terminals, and the application of an insurance policy to cover 100% of damages to cargo vehicles moving goods through the area.

In addition, other actions to be implemented in the coming days include the appointment of a coordinator for logistics for the establishment of cargo flows in the port, and the presentation to Congress of a project to elevate the city to Special Economic Export Zone.
