Colombia is set to receive new batches of Pfizer vaccines

In the third stage of vaccine distribution, 14.1 million doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech drug will be shipped to 47 countries in the second quarter of the year (between April and June). Colombia was allocated 1,092,780 doses from Pfizer through the Covax mechanism.

In past rounds, Colombia was allocated 117,000 doses from Pfizer, which arrived on March 1; and 2,066,400 from AstraZeneca, of which a first batch of 244,800 landed on March 20.

Distribution of AstraZeneca's vaccine to 142 participants in a previously announced round is underway, "with some delays" that could extend deliveries until after May (La República, 2021). Reduced availability delayed some deliveries in March and April, and much of the production at the Serum Institute of India is being redirected to said country.

Covax is looking to deliver more than 330 million Covid-19 vaccines before mid-year and reach a total of more than 2 billion by 2021.
