The experience that one gains by having worked for only six weeks in Brigard & Urrutia is incalculable. As a law student near to graduation, the link to a law firm that actually works as a company in which all aspects are willing to ensure optimum results in legal work, is like a milestone that lets me understand the importance of the profession that I have chosen. Discipline, order, coordination and creativity are essential to meet the requirements of clients, whom they have always been receiving the best by The Firm.
However, beyond these factors, I met a great group of people, not only highly qualified in academic terms, but always willing to work as a team, being kind to those who would be linked to an organization which is dedicated to the formation of integral professionals and committed with the country's development. My summer internship experience in Brigard & Urrutia and Brigard & Castro has been invaluable. I could turn on to different law areas that allowed me to be exposed to many legal issues. I also had the opportunity to focus on a specific area which I was interested in. Thus, I had the daily experience of a lawyer who helped me recognize the approach that I want to take when I graduate. I had the opportunity to encounter the daily workload in every area and live an exhaustive learning experience. I was able to go beyond the theory of law studies to having real law practices.
Each lawyer, whom I worked with, gave me detailed explanations about the tasks, which allowed me to have a better knowledge about each case and its specific process. Also, the lawyers were my mentors through their tips, suggestions and comments. I appreciate the opportunity to work with lawyers as professionals and scholars.

This internship reaffirms my desire to work in Brigard & Urrutia on a permanent basis after completing my studies. The firm’s internship program has provided me an invaluable opportunity to take important steps toward my professional goals. Throughout my academic career my primary area of interest has been international trade. During my internship at Brigard & Urrutia, I have worked closely with lawyers who are international trade experts. These excellent supervisors and mentors have provided me with the tools I need in order to be a successful lawyer in the field of international trade and customs law.
Furthermore, this internship experience has allowed me to discover new topics of interest. During the internship, I have had the privilege to work closely with Brigard & Urrutia’s Taxation team, an experience that has heightened my interest in the intersection between taxation and international trade. Finally, the firm’s lawyers - thanks to the warmth, professionalism and willingness to guide and instruct – have made an extremely important contribution to the success of this internship program. Several lawyers are providing me with the information and guidance I need in order to be able to practice law in Colombia. The opportunity to belong to Brigard & Urrutia is undoubtedly a great privilege.

Summer internship 2007 in Brigard & Urrutia has been one of the most fulfilling experiences that I have lived, since I had the chance to understand law from a practical perspective, having the opportunity to work in different areas which enabled me to understand law in an integral manner.
