| | | Mr. Morcillo joined the firm in 2006 and currently is a Senior Associate in Capital Markets, Private Equity and Securities and M&A Practice Groups, and currently is the Coordinator of the Capital Markets, Private Equity and Securities Team. He frequently advises clients on fund formation matters and the implementation of investment policies for companies and projects in Colombia. He also advises national and foreign clients on M&A transactions (both for listed and privately held companies) with specific focus on the following areas: contract drafting, regulatory, financial and corporate. In addition, he has advised several national and foreign clients on issuances and placements of debt and equity on the Colombian Stock Exchange as well as in the New York Stock Exchange.
Mr. Morcillo is a graduate of the School of Law of Universidad de los Andes, with additional studies in History and Economics at the same university. He also earned an LL.M in Finance Law at London University (ICL-University College London), where he was awarded the academic excellence Joseph Hume Scholarship. He has also attended several arbitration courses at the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris and at the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota. As part of his continuing academic formation, Mr. Morcillo regularly participates in presentations and conferences about private equity and capital markets. Formerly, he was an associate professor teaching Public Finance at Los Andes University. Mr. Morcillo has also published an article entitled “Private Equity in Colombia: New Opportunities in a Booming Industry” in the Euromoney LATAM Financial Markets Handbook in 2010.
