| | | Mr. Laguado joined the firm in 2010 and currently is a Senior Associate in the M&A Practice Group. He advises local and foreign companies in M&A transactions, currently having counseled on transactions exceeding an aggregate amount of US$2.5 billion. Key representations include the recent acquisition of a 20% interest in Drummond´s Colombian coal mining operations in Colombia by the Japanese company Itochu Corp.; the acquisition by Éxito of Disco Group and other subsidiaries in Uruguay; the sale of EMI Medical Emergencies by Tribeca Capital Partners and the acquisition of a hardware company by Grainger, company of Fortune 100. In addition, Mr. Laguado advises leading national and foreign companies, including Telefónica Internacional, Colinversiones, BBVA, ABB, ETB, Carvajal Internacional, as well as private equity funds such as Tribeca Capital Partners and Brookfield Asset Management, among others.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Laguado worked as a corporate associate at the highly regarded law firm of Sidley Austin LLP in New York City, where he specialized in equity market transactions, financing, mergers and acquisitions, with particular focus on advising Latin American multinational companies.
Darío Laguado is admitted to the practice of law in Colombia (2003) and New York (2008).
Mr. Laguado is a graduate of the School of Law of Universidad Javeriana, where he obtained the best class average in December 2003 and the third best result in the ECAES examination nationwide. He also obtained a specialization in Commercial Law at Universidad de los Andes. In addition, Mr. Laguado graduated with an LL.M from Harvard Law School. He previously taught a course on property law and currently is a Professor of Law and Economics at Universidad Javeriana.
