Mr. Mafla joined the firm in 2005 and currently is a Senior Associate in the M&A, International Trade and Corporate and Commercial Practice Groups of the firm.  He advises national and multinational companies on a wide variety of complex legal issues different subjects, and provides continuous counseling to clients with respect to international commercialization schemes, including the qualification as special permanent free zone user of Protisa Colombia S.A. (CMPC Group), acquisitions of companies such as Teledatos S.A., the capitalization of TGI S.A., and acquisition by Schneider Electric S.A.S. 
He is admitted to practice in Colombia and the State of New York also practiced as a Foreign Associate with the law firms of Uría Menéndez in Spain and Harkins Cunningham LLP in New York.

Mr. Mafla is a graduate of the School of Law of Universidad de los Andes and also obtained a specialization in Business Law at Universidad Externado.  In addition, Mr. Mafla graduated with an LL.M from New York University School of Law.  He also received a Diploma in French Language and Civilization from the University of Nantes.  He also teaches a class on Trade Regulations at Universidad de la Sabana and the nomination as invited teacher for the International Law Masters Program of the School of Law of Los Andes University.  Likewise, Mr. Mafla has acted as coach, advisor and judge in international law contests such as Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition as well as in the contest on international commerce regulation organized by ELSA.  He has published several articles on Globe Business Publishing , Latin Lawyer, International Financial Law Review- IFLR.
