Mr. Umaña joined the firm in 2006 and currently is a Senior Associate in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications Practice Group.  His practice is focused on the full spectrum of media and communications law from both private commercial and regulatory perspectives, which he combines with an in-depth understanding of the public and administrative law affecting those areas. During his tenure at the firm, he has provided advice for projects such as the bid for the Third Open Television Channel in Colombia and the first auction for the radio-electric spectrum held in the country.

Prior to joining the firm, he was an advisor on technology issues to the Legal Vice Presidency of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá for four years.  He is a member of the Research Group in Internet, Electronic Commerce and Telecommunications (GECTI) of the Universidad de los Andes, the Colombia Sub-Committee of Electronic Commerce and the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris.  He lectures on Electronic Commerce of Rosario University and has published numerous articles on technology and the law. 

He is admitted to practice in Colombia.

Mr. Umaña is a graduate of the School of Law of Rosario University and has also obtained a specialization in Commercial Law in Los Andes University.  In addition, Mr. Umaña graduated with an LL.M in Science and Technology from Stanford University.
